Botanical Shirt Dress

A knee-length shirt dress crafted from GOTS certified organic cotton-linen blend in a deep forest green. The dress features a classic shirt collar, full button-down front placket with natural wood buttons, elbow-length sleeves, a self-fabric tie belt at the natural waist, and integrated side pockets. The silhouette is relaxed and A-line from the waist, with a slightly curved hem.
The defining feature of this dress is its contrast front panel — a separate piece of hand-waxed batik fabric constructed directly into the body of the garment. The panel features large abstract botanical leaf forms in multi-tonal green, lime, and natural cream, produced using traditional Sri Lankan wax-resist batik technique. Fine crackle lines characteristic of authentic hand-waxed batik are visible throughout the panel surface. As the panel is cut from individually hand-dyed fabric, the exact placement and color distribution of each motif varies between pieces.
The solid forest green body and the multi-tonal botanical batik panel are cut and sewn together as a single garment, meaning the batik work is integrated into the construction rather than applied as surface decoration.
